Position Description: This position will provide programmatic, analytical, and collaborative support to government engagement initiatives, the Institute for Innovation, and special projects.
Effective government engagement is essential the value and viability of ACT-IAC’s unique public-private partnership collaboration model. The Institute for Innovation provides an objective, non-partisan forum for strategic thought leadership to advance government missions through the innovative application and management of information technology. Special projects are based on an identified need from federal agencies. These needs are developed into activities that accomplish strategic mission objectives in alignment with ACT-IAC’s Strategic Plan.
This is a full-time Senior Manager level position that reports to the Senior Director for Government Initiatives.
Duties include the following as well as other responsibilities as required:
Support the Senior Director for Government Initiatives across all areas of responsibility.
Track program and project plans and report on performance against goals.
Keep current and accurate records and prepare reports and supporting documentation as required.
Engage with ACT-IAC members as professional peer and staff partner to volunteer leaders and other stakeholders.
Provide general administrative support within areas of responsibility as required for program success.
Manage web page content, social media, and other electronic communications and information related to areas of responsibility.
Advise the Senior Director for Government Initiatives on issues, trends, and priorities affecting government agencies, programs, and personnel.
Track development and implementation of plans to ensure that ACT-IAC collaborative activities align with the strategic plan, have value to government, and increase government engagement.
Maintain accurate records about important government stakeholders and their engagements with ACT-IAC.
Track and report on communication strategies to provide more visibility into ACT-IAC collaborative activities and promote those activities.
Track and report on efforts to capture content and knowledge created through the organization’s collaborative activities and make it more broadly available and used by ACT-IAC members.
Provide administrative support to Government Engagement activities.
Institute for Innovation
Plan, coordinate, and support bimonthly meetings of the Institute for Innovation Innovators Circle.
Support publication of the monthly InnOvation newsletter.
Support the planning and execution of the Institute for Innovation’s annual Igniting Innovation event in collaboration with the ACT-IAC meetings team.
Coordinate Institute for Innovation activities with other programs and parts of ACT-IAC.
Promote efforts to increase awareness of the Institute and its projects across ACT-IAC.
Provide administrative support to the Institute for Innovation and its activities.
Assist the project manager in planning and executing special projects in accordance with ACT-IAC policies and procedures
Support the project manager in tracking progress, taking corrective actions if needed, and delivering and promoting quality products on time
Maintain accurate information about project plans, milestones, and accomplishments and provide project status reports as needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree required.
5+ years professional experience progressively aligned to position. Advanced degree can substitute for two years experience.
Must possess interpersonal skills to deal professionally and effectively with a broad spectrum of business representatives, ACT-IAC members and government organizations.
Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing. Must be able to communicate and present information to executive level audiences
Must demonstrate initiative and ability to use independent judgment.
Ability to manage multiple, concurrent projects and work assignments.
Must demonstrate a strong, results-oriented work ethic.
Must be able to foster a cooperative work environment with ability to motivate other staff and volunteers to work towards common goals and objectives.
Proficient using the latest version of Microsoft Office and be able to perform research using the internet.
Ability to manage web page content, social media, and other electronic communications and information.
PMP certification and/or project management experience is desirable but not required.
Experience working for or with the federal government is desirable but not required.

This is a fulltime position with a duty location in Fairfax, VA. The position is available immediately.
