This position is responsible for working with all internal departmental teams to build and strengthen the NCACPA’s value and relevancy to members in public, industry, government and education, as well as to public accounting firms, companies and educational institutions. This position will design and execute an integrated strategy of relationship-building, outreach, communications, and service that meets the interests of the organization, members and firms/companies, resulting in increased recruitment, retention and engagement in all NCACPA membership segments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Membership Recruitment, Retention and Engagement
Develop a long-range strategic plan for membership, including assessments of current and potential member value proposition and recommendations for new/revised benefits and services.
Oversee the development and implementation of an annual plan for membership recruitment, retention and engagement designed to meet annual financial goals and key membership statistics.
Develop relationships with members and prospective members, including representing NCACPA at various meetings and events.
Work collaboratively with the Director of Communications and membership engagement team to develop and implement a comprehensive marketing program for membership recruitment and retention.
Evaluate effectiveness of strategies, such as fee structure, member benefits, segmentation, and messaging for recruitment and retention activities, recommending changes as appropriate to meet goals.
Keep abreast of and test trends and innovations in membership strategies and organizations, and identify/apply new ways to attract, retain, and engage members with very different needs.
In collaboration with membership engagement department and marketing strategist, performs strategic market analysis to determine what products or services to promote and what type of promotion will appeal to the end user.
Oversee the development and implementation of outreach strategies to key member segments and their employers to grow membership and strengthen relationships.
On an annual basis, routinely engage with members throughout the State through attendance at NCACPA CPE programs/conferences, participation in social/networking group activities and other events.
Work collaboratively with all directors (particularly the Director of Professional Development and Learning Manager) to identify opportunities for enhanced member value, and recruitment, retention and engagement activities in all NCACPA programs and services.
Manage NCACPA Affinity Program. Identify and vet potential new providers as well as maintain strong relationships with current providers.
Membership Operations, Records and Reporting:
Oversee the policies, procedures and personnel of the NCACPA’s Membership in order to optimize the effectiveness of all membership recruitment, retention and engagement initiatives and to promote executional excellence in the performance of all department activities.
Oversee the development of annual recruitment, retention and outreach budgets consistent with department and NCACPA goals; meet or exceed annual budget goals.
Oversee management of membership data, including netForum database and records maintenance processes, necessary for the accuracy, timeliness and confidentiality of membership records.
Work collaboratively with the Finance & Administration Department, including IT, regarding the development and oversight of business processes, data standards and financial transactions in the netForum database.
Utilize data, member interactions and trends to provide quantitative and qualitative metrics for measuring success.
Oversee creation and production of monthly and annual statistical/financial reports detailing membership activity and its relationship to goals, budgets and historical data.
Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach, as well as establishing and monitoring staff performance and development goals through regular performance appraisals.
Oversee annual dues invoicing process.
Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications or comparable field required.
At least 7 years of professional work experience in business development, marketing/communications or related area with at least two years of both strategic leadership and management experience. Knowledge and experience in a professional association environment preferred.
Creative visionary with a passion for membership recruitment, retention and engagement, and the ability to clearly articulate ideas and concepts.
Possesses skills and experience in project management and multi-tasking.
Data driven, systems thinker with proven ability to develop and execute comprehensive strategies to achieve targeted objectives that meet organizational needs.
High degree of emotional intelligence with proven ability to build and sustain business relationships, to adeptly represent the organization and to make a positive connection with others.
Strong interpersonal and communications skills – conversational, presentation, and business communications, marketing, and written strategic and operational plans.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and association management software, familiarity with netForum Enterprise a plus.
