The chief executive officer of the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois serves at the pleasure of the Board of Directors and is the staff leader, networker, advocate and accountable executive for achievement of mission and fundraising goals as well as financial wellbeing. He/she develops and secures appropriate board engagement and approval for strategy, annual goals, budget and stewardship of the brand and reputation of NKFI. The CEO is accountable to the board of directors reporting directly to the Chair. The CEO partners with the Chair to ensure an organized calendar and processes so the board fulfills its governance functions and fiduciary duties.
A bachelor’s degree is required. Masters in health care administration, non-profit management or business preferred.
15 years of progressive leadership and fund development experience in a similar organization or corporate sales function.
Superior written and oral communication skills.
Previous experience managing and empowering teams and budgets.
Understanding of how to work for and partner with a board of directors as well as volunteers.
Ability to garner trust and respect of others.
Professional nature with the ability to meet deadlines and quickly establish priorities.
Ability to track outcomes and communicate impact.
Creative and innovative thinker.
Ability to roll up your sleeves when needed.
