We are a professional medical association searching for an Education Manager to work with a dynamic team on education programs and enduring materials derived from annual meeting content.
Responsibilities include education and scientific programs, research abstract presentations, speaker management and collaboration with the Planning Committees. This role will also provide onsite annual meeting and post-meeting wrap-up support.
The office is located in the San Francisco Financial District. We offer competitive salary and benefits plus flexible work location and hours.
Consideration will be given to out of area candidates. In this situation, the candidate must be able to commit to traveling to the San Francisco office monthly. Expenses are covered for this travel.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Manage the education and scientific programs for the Society's aligned annual meetings, including planning, speaker management, onsite execution, and post-meeting wrap-up.
In collaboration with the Planning Committees, develop, implement and execute the educational and scientific content.
Manage the session proposal and review process.
Manage the scientific abstract submission and review process.
Develop and manage derivative education products utilizing annual meeting content.
Manage compliance with AMA and ACCME requirements for continuing medical education (CME).
Develop and implement the attendee education program book and related materials.
Oversee and maintain session, speaker, abstract, CME, and registration databases.
Propose and implement strategies for targeting new audiences for education content.
Manage ancillary meetings and research abstract awards.
Develop and utilize methods of monitoring effectiveness, successes and shortcomings of the meeting programs and initiatives.
Maintain an attitude of continuous improvement; assess areas to streamline processes, improve efficiencies, and reduce costs.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of 6 years of related background, training and work experience and thorough knowledge of educational and scientific program development and conference management.
Previous experience with associations or not-for-profit organizations; experience in health care related area desirable.
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
Comfortable and proficient in communicating (both written and oral) with and building relationships with high-level professionals including members, leadership, industry professionals and vendors.
Articulate and confident with high-level of diplomacy.
Attention to detail, balanced with big-picture perspective.
Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to changing procedures, methods or processes.
Ability to gather and synthesize information, anticipate potential issues and resolve with quick and effective decisions with can-do approach to problem solving.
Sense of humor, ability to work well under pressure and ability to be creative and think outside the box
High degree of initiative, energy, and self-motivation and ownership and passion for work.
Travel required for Annual Meetings, educational conferences, and other events.
Able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
Ability to lift 20 lbs. on occasion.
