The International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR) seeks a Member Outreach Manager to develop and implement a strategy for membership development for an international association, with an emphasis on expanding relationships with stem cell institutes and societies around the world. Of particular focus will be to engage younger scientists and institute directors to bring in new members and broaden the society’s reach into organizations working in stem cell and related fields. This position will be involved in the development of a range of membership initiatives.
The ISSCR is an international non-profit scientific organization, with members around the world doing groundbreaking research in the dynamic area of stem cell research and its translation to medicine. Members from leading academic institutions, the biomedical industry, and healthcare, share the latest advances in stem cell science at the ISSCR’s annual meeting, the world’s largest meeting dedicated to stem cell science. International symposia are also held throughout the year to highlight current trends and particular research areas. The ISSCR leads the field with international guidelines for responsible, ethical research, a vibrant scientific journal, rigorous scientific programming, and outreach to the public and policy makers about the potential for stem cell science to transform human health
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop growth and retention strategies, and measure and report success
Build and maintain member relationships that are enduring
Maintain a thorough understanding of all membership categories, benefits, and initiatives and communicate them effectively to members and prospects
Oversee membership application process, discover areas for improvement and streamline the process.
Support Committees Manager by staffing Membership Committee
Other duties as assigned
Skills and qualifications required:
5+ years of relevant professional experience
Excellent communication skills and the ability to present information accurately and appropriately to various audiences
Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail
Ability to work as part of a team and to work independently; a self-initiator, versatile and motivated
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks concurrently
Proficient in MS Office Suite, with strong skills in Word and Excel
Excellent customer service, responsiveness and problem-solving abilities
Availability for minimal domestic and international travel
Experience with a scientific or medical society a plus
Membership experience in a member-based nonprofit environment
Database management experience (iMIS preferred)
